About the Project:

Bridge Creek Prescribed Fire

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Prineville District Office implemented a prescribed fire at the SageSTEP Bridge Creek woodland site in Oregon in October 2006.  Due to the lack of fuel on the ground and the cooler than desired temperatures, the 39-acre burn was patchy.  In the late summer, the Prineville BLM fire crew cut trees to increase ground fuels in approximately half of the research plot, but were unable to treat the entire plot because their resources were shifted to suppressing wildfires. It is estimated that 70% of the plot was burned.

For more information on this burn, contact Rick Miller or Jaime Ratchford.
