About the Project:

Marking Corral Prescribed Fire

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Ely Field Office implemented a prescribed burn at the SageSTEP Marking Corral site in Aug.-Sept., 2006. They estimate that the total area burned was between 1800 and 1900 acres and that over 90% of the SageSTEP core plot was burned.

This burn was also part of the BLM Ely District's Marking Corral Watershed Health and Fuels Reduction Project. This project focuses on maintaining watershed health, protecting against catastrophic wildland fire, reducing soil erosion rates, and providing a diversity of native wildlife habitat.

For more information about this burn, contact Robin Tausch.
