The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Salt Lake Field Office implemented a 1000-acre prescribed burn at the SageSTEP Onaqui juniper woodland site in October 2006. The combination of weather, availability of crews, and fuel type during this time of year resulted in a patchy burn. The BLM helitorched intensively with one helicopter and dropped ping-pong fuel balls with another in order to burn as much as possible. For more information about this burn, contact Bruce Roundy or Brad Jessop.
