The Endangered Species Act is one of the most powerful national regulatory acts affecting land management actions in the Great Basin. The links below provide information that may be helpful to private land owners and public land managers who must comply with this national act.

BLM Sagebrush and Sage-grouse Conservation
Greater sage-grouse populations have declined rapidly as sagebrush habitats have been subjected to increasing degradation, fragmentation and conversion to other uses.  Any restoration treatment applied in sagebrush ecosystems should address the potential presence of this valued species, which is currently a candidate species under the Endangered Species Act. In 2004 a National Sage-Grouse Habitat Conservation Strategy was developed, which can be found on this website along with a Supplemental Guidance document issued in 2010.  Additional documents relevant to the management of sage grouse habitat can be found at the end of this webpage.

Endangered Species Act (ESA), Section 9: Laws and Regulations to Protect Endangered Plants conservation/lawsandregulations.shtml
Section 9 is the portion of the Endangered Species Act that contains information on the protection of endangered plants both involved in transport and trade as well as information regarding endangered plant species found on private land.
